Let’s face it…dealing with acne is never enjoyable. I went through a phase of my life where my skin was continuously breaking out no matter what I did. Since changing my diet by following the autoimmune protocol my acne has drastically improved. That being said I still have to deal with pimples from time to time and when I do I make sure I am using products that are good for my skin and my body.
For reference- my skin is combination (oily t zone and the rest of my face is normal). I suffer from hormonal breakouts on my chin, the odd pimple along my hairline and I have some blackheads on my nose. My skin is also very sensitive and often does not react well to many cosmetic products and skincare products. Hence why I have switched to an all natural skincare and cosmetic routine.
When I breakout, I have three products that I like to use. The first one is a mask from Fat And The Moon and it is called Pimple Mud. It costs 12 dollars US for 2 Fl Oz. so it will last you forever. I have had it for over 2 months and have barely made a dent. It is made from bentonite clay, witch hazel extract, goldenseal root, and tea tree essential oil. It has a strong tea tree oil/earthy scent, but at least you know its the smell of the natural ingredients. You can use it as a spot treatment or as a face mask. I generally put it on my t-zone twice a week and then use it as a spot treatment as needed. This stuff really dries out the pimple quickly so it can heal and be gone!

Once I have used the pimple mud to dry out the pimple overnight, I then use an essential oil rollerball I call Clear Skin. You get a 5ml glass jar and a roller ball. Put in 8 drops of tea tree oil, 8 drops of lavender, and 4 drops of lemongrass (make sure to use a high quality brand such as young living). Then fill the rest of the bottle with a carrier oil such as grape seed oil or avocado oil. I put this treatment on my zit under my makeup and wear it throughout the day.
My last product is another rollerball I call The Healing Blend. I use this when I have irritated a zit or it has popped and needs to heal. To make this blend get another 5ml glass jar and a roller ball. Put in 20 drops of lavender and 20 drops of tea tree oil. Fill the rest of the bottle with a carrier oil such as grape seed oil or avocado oil. This is safe to put on an open cut or pimple and does not sting! It really speeds up the healing process. I use this on paper cuts, or irritated skin in general.
So those are my top three go to acne products. I hope that you never have to use them, but if you do get a pimple…now you know what to use! What are your favourite acne skincare products? Do you have any DIY recipes?
