No pears in the fruit basket?

Use slices of apples, oranges, peaches, or grapefruit instead!

No fresh ginger root on hand?

Since fresh ginger spoils quickly in the fridge, I like to slice mine into 1-inch pieces then freeze them right after purchasing to avoid mold. If you don’t have any in the freezer, though, you can use ⅛ tsp ginger root powder in each of the glasses instead!

No cranberries to be found at the store?

Sometimes, even when this fruit is in season, a bag of cranberries can be difficult to get your hands on in certain areas. You could use pure cranberry juice instead (though be mindful of the ingredients list…often, non-compliant sugar or corn syrup is added), or simply use the juice of ¼ a lemon or lime in each glass to mimic the tartness.

No maple syrup?

No problem! You can simply omit it and the drink will still be tasty, or you could use raw honey or even date syrup instead.
