I don’t know about you but one of the things I miss the most while following the AIP is sauces…especially AIP Teriyaki Sauce.
I think it is mostly due to the fact that I can’t just go buy a sauce at the store or have a ready made jar in the fridge.

Though I have found AIP teriyaki coconut jerky online…it’s so, so good!
Spice up your Wednesday Wing night with this yummy, fast, and easy glaze! I like to use this sauce for chicken wings or on pizzas.
There are two different ways to make this sauce.
If you want the thicker version (pictured above) then you add a 1/2 Tbsp of arrowroot mixed with a Tbsp of water.
If you prefer a thinner AIP Teriyaki Sauce then omit the arrowroot and water.
The secret is in both the sweet and salty coconut aminos, which is soy-free but tastes like soy sauce, and the blackstrap molasses, which is rich in deep flavors and color (hello, nutrients)!
The next time you need a quick AIP Teriyaki Sauce I hope this recipe will fill the void.

AIP Teriyaki Sauce
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup coconut aminos
- 1/2 tsp Black strap molasses
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ginger powder
- 1/2 Tbsp arrowroot starch
- 1 Tbsp water To mix with the arrowroot
Instructions

Mix the arrowroot with the water in a small bowl.

Add the remaining ingredients into a bowl and stir. Then add in the arrowroot mixture and stir.

Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Simmer until thickened (it will take longer to thicken if you omit the arrowroot).

Let cool and store in a glass container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat on low heat before serving.

Well, I will never include soy anything in my food like I did for 30+ years, but was hoping there was some other reasonable substitute. I have been reintroducing more paleo foods lately. Thanks again for sharing!

The brand called Big Tree Farms has organic coco aminos that is soy free and gluten free. We get it at sprouts but they have it in amazon, too.

Do you have to cook the non thick version of the sauce? Can you just mix it up an store it in the fridge?
I am sure you could do that, I think it would probably thicken after being in the fridge!
Can I use coconut sugar in place of molasses??

I make this teriyaki a couple times a month and use it on Turkey burgers, chicken tenders and chicken wings. I love it and it is so easy make.

You could dilute this with more water and add some extra arrowroot a little at a time until it reaches your desired salt level and consitency. đŸ™‚
