Say cheers with grapefruit, kombucha, & strawberry in this Paleo, Whole30, AIP Frosé Virgin Mocktail that’s perfect for your end-of-summer toast!

If you’re looking for a refreshing, alcohol-free beverage to celebrate summer coming to a close, you’ll love this frosty concoction!

It’s Autoimmune Protocol compliant, Paleo, and if you omit the natural sweetener it’s easily made Whole30 as well. You’ll adore that this ruby-pink and fruity slushy has only 4 base ingredients, too.

What is Frosé?

Frosé is a cocktail that’s trending right now, and for good reason. The original recipe calls for freezing the contents of a bottle of rosé wine in a plastic freezer baggie until it is slushy, then adding the “frozen” wine to your blender along with sugar and strawberries and whizzing it up.

Since on the AIP elimination phase we avoid alcohol and cane sugar, the above ingredients are not compliant. So I got creative in the kitchen with some similar and anti-inflammatory flavors! This recipe creation resulted in a fun, frozen mocktail for those of us that want to enjoy a fancy drink but without the inflammation.

Go Pink with the Fruits in this AIP Frosé Virgin Mocktail

Pink grapefruit adds hints of sweetness, bitterness, and tartness. It balances with the sweet-tart strawberries so well and totally makes me think of a changing of the seasons party. You’re going to love this refreshing and palate-tantalizing combination.

You can sweeten it a little bit with a touch of honey or maple syrup, but I actually prefer this more on the tart side. It reminds me more of a frozen blush wine that way!

The Kombucha Trick

To me, kombucha has a slight alcohol essence and flavor, which helps you to feel like you’re actually “imbibing” a little with your virgin drink. Also, it’s got fun bubbles that add a touch of “mouth sparkle” so to speak!

My favorite kombucha for this recipe is Synergy Guava Goddess. The flavor is so unique – I swear it tastes pink, haha! You of course can use any kombucha you like that is compliant with the AIP, or even your own homemade kombucha.

The ingredients in it are organic and super clean, too. Plus they are AIP and Whole30 compliant:

  • kombucha culture
  • black tea
  • green tea
  • kiwi juice
  • guava puree

Whip Up an AIP Frosé Virgin Mocktail

Try it with different fruits or different kombucha flavors. I think this would be delicious with pineapple and lime in place of the grapefruit and strawberry!

  1. Is there a different kombucha flavor you’d recommend trying with this? I’m allergic to kiwi 🙁

      Hi Rachel!

It appears that all of Synergy brand’s kombuchas have kiwi in them, so I would opt for a brand and flavor that you really enjoy and is safe for you. Possibly something with strawberry, watermelon, or guava flavor that has a pink color to it! 🙂
